A door opens. On the other side the silhouette of two individuals, dragging a third are seen. The two - one female, one male - hurl the third woman through. The third woman is Rachel, in full hound regalia.
The two follow, entering what looks like a bland, institutional-type hallway. The red-haired woman sneers, "I told you, we don't want you. You're nothing to us."
"You're a disgrace. What made you think you could belong with us." The man's eyebrows are seen to arch behind ruby-red glasses. "Unless you were hoping for pity?"
The woman looks at her companion. "Well, that's just hoping for too much, Scott."
"You're right - we should have tossed her out as soon as she arrived." He puts an arm around her waist, "We should go, Jean. We have better lives away from her."
The pair begin to walk out. Rachel tries to follow, but the door is slammed in her face and she begins to pound on it. "This isn't me, it isn't always me. Please, come back! Dad! ...Mom!?"

Rachel becomes distracted by something. "Nathan?" In the distance a baby begins crying. "Hold on, Nathan, I'm coming!" She begins to run down the corridor, looking into rooms as she passes. The crying gets louder. "Hold on, baby brother, I'll be there soon. I'll protect you!"
She finds the right room and bursts through the door. Instead of a baby, there's a man, carrying guns and other assorted weapons. "Do I look like I need protection, sister? From the likes of you?" There's a sneer on his face. "Last I checked, you were the one needing rescuing, trapped in your little gilded cage."
"Nathan, I just wanted - "
"Wanted to what? Rachel? Protect me? Save me? The world doesn't need you to protect me - you tried that once." He motions behind Rachel. In the shadows of the room, there's another male figure, menacing. "You tried to save me, Mother Askani. And in saving me, you created HIM." The figure emerges, and he's identical to her brother.

"Stryfe?" She whispers.
"Yes, Mother?" The sneer is the same, but carried with an air of malevolence. Faster than lightening, he grabs her by the throat and starts to drag her away. She struggles and fails. Nathan just watches.
"I really should thank you for my life, Rachel. Without you, my masterpiece would have never come to fruition."
He drags her through a set of double-doors into a mausoleum, where statues of the dead stand silently. "Look at my work, OUR work. You knew all this, and still you gave the order to create me. This is OUR legacy, Rachel. Enjoy it."
He tosses her in and one of the statues begins to move. A young girl steps forward. "You killed me."
"Illyana, I'm sorry. I didn't - I couldn't..."
"Of course not." She leans over. "It's never your fault, is it, Rachel? Ahab made you a hound, that wasn't you. What happened to Brian? It was a total accident. And me...?" The girl's hand is behind her back, and you can begin to make out the outline of a sword. "You had to protect your brother, how could you know - really know - what HE would become."
Behind Rachel, another statue begins to move, sneaking up behind Rachel, but she's still focused on the girl. "Illyana." It's said in a whisper.
"That's OK, Rachel." The figure behind grabs Rachel, pinning her arms behind her, preventing her from moving.
"Jamie!?"
The young girl advances. "We forgive you." With that, the figure behind Rachel disappears and the little girl thrusts the sword through Rachel's abdomen, running it all the way through her body. The rest of the statues begin to clap as Rachel sinks to the floor.

[ooc: LJ-cut for the massive TL;DR. Long/short, Rachel feels rejected by her parents, like she failed her brother, and oh - more than a little responsible for the Legacy Virus. You can interact with any aspect of the dream and have your character choose any one or all segments to see. There may be something for everyone! On some level she will be aware she's dreaming, but that may come and go if you choose to interact. If you're just observing and don't want interaction, please make that obvious in your tag.]

"You see?" Niko says, leaning back against the wall as her brother and his double stand around her. "Little brothers are always into trouble."

He shrugs, drawing a knife and flipping it end over end in his hand. "I'm sure he finds that comforting. How are you going to fix it?"

Niko lets her stumble, his expression unforgiving. "How are you going to do that?"

"That wasn't on your resume," Niko observes with a raised eyebrow.

"Reading minds isn't part of the job requirements. It also doesn't make you a fighter." Niko twirls the knife again and it disappears in midair, courtesy of dream physics and logic. "I'll ask Reeve to add a psychological profile to the applications."

"Nice decorations." He raises his eyes to take in the full height of the robots. "Apocalypse or invasion?"

"Lucky you." He walks around the base of one of the robots, examining the structure and shaking his head. "Ingenious, but impractical."

Niko gives another moment's consideration to the cost of developing and maintaining the robots, holds true to his initial assessment, but doesn't say anything of it. "Ink blots won't be enough to understand you, will they?"

"Better," Niko agrees. "We talk in my o-"

But he never finishes, pulled away to another dream.

He's been watching a little mentally fuzzy for a few moments before he realizes who he's staring at-- someone he hasn't seen for a very long time, and for very good reasons, seeing as he murdered Rictor's father. He wants to shout out for Rachel to get away, but he can't even find his voice enough to cough.

He can only sink to his knees until Rachel is already pierced, miserable even though he's aware that it's either a very vivid memory or a dream, and he's not sure how it's happening, but Rachel is a psychic on a totally incomprehensible level, so who even knows. Then, he finds his voice at last.

"Get off her!"

"I'm not the cavalry. I'm not even...useful...in a situation like this. But I know that's a friend of mine and I know every stinking word that comes out of your mouth is filthy."

It's true, on all counts. If he hated that face before years ago, then he hates it more now that he's watched it skewer Rachel. Even if it is a dream. He wants to run to her, but what good will it do to have two dying bodies? Rictor wonders what happens if he dies here.

Coma for life?

"Anyway, if both of us is so not worth it, we're still worthless together. More than I can say for someone like you."

He runs finally, not particularly caring how dirty he may get as he dumps himself down beside Rachel, as soon as she says those words to that evil bastard. He still doesn't comprehend the situation, but two things could happen. She could force herself on her dream and fix things, or she could die, and if she's going to die like that, he won't let her do it so all alone.

"Oh my god, you can talk. Rachel, what--"

At first, one hand reaches toward her wound. But he doesn't know how to treat it anyway and he's sure he'll just make it worse. Stab wounds aren't exactly something he's familiar with. He's frustrated for a second, but then the other two, the clones, speak.

Rictor recognizes the woman now, as well, having seen her once and not very close, when he was young, maybe fifteen. He bares his teeth and shoves an arm out in front of Rachel instead.

"Well if they're not real, it would be really nice if you could make them go away, Rachel. Because you're bleeding to death. This is just your mind torturing you...or maybe someone else, or a curse."

He stands when the scenery changes and drops down on the nearby cot, sliding his jacket out and holding it over to Rachel for both their sakes. The identity-less uniformity of the jumpsuit makes him nervous.

He's never been here before, but he spent long enough in Genosha before he toppled it to know a camp when he sees one. She can explain all of this if she decides to.

"What was happening back there?"

Rictor leans forward and folds his arms over his knees, still staring over at Rachel as she sits behind him. It's cold in the room, not cold enough to be dangerous but just enough to be bothersome. It depresses him.

"You shouldn't have to live with that, Rach. Isn't there someone here who could do something? Another psychic?"

No! This isn't real! You're not dead, Illyana...please! You were supposed to get that childhood and be happy. It's not real...right Ray? It's not?

Is this what I'll go back to...?

She whispered that with her back turned away from Rachel. After a small pause she shouted

Is that all I have to look forward to?!
