[Someone's going through papers on a desk. It looked like it had been organized, once, but that organization had been gone. Rachel's muttering to herself, obviously trying to find something.]

I know it's in here somewhere - who the hell was going through this place...?

...Jesus, where's Bobby Drake when you need an accountant?

[She sees a piece of paper and grabs it.]

Ah-ha! Oh, wait, this is from last month's payroll. Where's...

Holy crap, is this Goodfellow's old tab?

[She shakes her head and goes back to looking.]

This is gonna take forever.

[She pointed over to the file cabinet.]

Look over there, okay? Payroll has to have its own section.

[Kirk headed over to the cabinet and started to look through it.]

Well, there are some receipts in here...

Okay, keep those, we might need them to figure out the orders for this week.

[She shuffles through some more paper.]

Have you heard anyone on staff talking about taking over?

We all voted, you're the boss now.

[He checks another drawer of the cabinet.]

Aha, found it!

I am so not doing this alone.

[She points a finger.]

I go down for it, so do you, Captain.

Hey, if it's not a ship, I don't run it.

[Kirk flipped through some of the files.]

You don't get paid enough, by the way.

You're still gonna help me, if I start giving orders, no one will believe it. You're the Captain, they'll listen to you.

[She arched an eyebrow.]

Well, if I'm cleaning up all this mess, I'll just have to fix that, won't I?

[Kirk made a very displeased face.]

I suppose someone has to do it.

Don't look at me like that, I'm not exactly thrilled with this either, but who else is there?

[Rachel began flipping through the papers.]

If you really don't, I'm not going to force you. Kitty can help me, I can find someone else....

Maybe we should sell the place. Give everyone who works here a percentage of it to the new owner...

[Kirk shook his head.]

No, I'll help you out with this.

...we don't have that right, it belongs to Ishiah if he ever comes back. We hold it until he sells it, or Niko comes back.

[She sat in the desk chair and put her head in her hands.]

I'm so damn tired of people leaving and coming back and leaving.

How long do you wait before you pass it on to someone else? People who own businesses should have documents on who gets things when they leave...

[He glanced over at her.]

I know what you mean.

Niko didn't want it, he was happy to just hold it until Ishiah came back.

[She idly sorted a few of the papers strewn on the desk.]

Kitty's come and gone a few times, Kara, Niko and just about everyone from his world... did you know that there are only four people left from my world, there used to be a dozen or so of us.

There used to be six of us here from my world, now it's just me.

[Kirk gave a bit of a shrug.]

I guess it helps if you're not used to having people around.

..not really used to that. Haven't been alone for awhile - everyone's been kinda keeping a close eye on me back home.

[Rachel started making some notes on a notepad.]

How are you doing here, Rachel?

My parents ran a school, dozens and dozens of students, lots of details...

[She looked up.]

Better pray I inherited some of it.

[She pushed the notes toward him.]

I think that's what we need to pay everyone this month. We'll need the receipts for supplies for the last few weeks to make sure we can cover those going forward - and we'll need to talk to the suppliers? Yeah, probably.

Am I forgetting anything?

[Kirk shook his head.]

That's not what I meant.

[She missed something and blinked a few times when she looked up from the figures again.]

Rachel, how are you doing here in the City?

Oh.

[She shrugged, moving a few papers around.]

Okay, I mean, Kitty came back, Kara's still around, I'm kinda seeing someone...

[Kirk nodded, he knew exactly who she was seeing. And he knew she could do so, so much better, but that wasn't his place.]

Not about to throw anyone through a table?

Not lately.

[She considers. And smiles - despite the fact that she saw that look.]

Give it time. It always comes back sooner or later.

[Kirk gave her a smile back.]

I'm glad you're doing better, Rachel.

[She took a deep breath and smiled.]

And even if I weren't, I have plenty to distract me now, right?
