A door opens. On the other side the silhouette of two individuals, dragging a third are seen. The two - one female, one male - hurl the third woman through. The third woman is Rachel, in full hound regalia.
The two follow, entering what looks like a bland, institutional-type hallway. The red-haired woman sneers, "I told you, we don't want you. You're nothing to us."
"You're a disgrace. What made you think you could belong with us." The man's eyebrows are seen to arch behind ruby-red glasses. "Unless you were hoping for pity?"
The woman looks at her companion. "Well, that's just hoping for too much, Scott."
"You're right - we should have tossed her out as soon as she arrived." He puts an arm around her waist, "We should go, Jean. We have better lives away from her."
The pair begin to walk out. Rachel tries to follow, but the door is slammed in her face and she begins to pound on it. "This isn't me, it isn't always me. Please, come back! Dad! ...Mom!?"
Rachel becomes distracted by something. "Nathan?" In the distance a baby begins crying. "Hold on, Nathan, I'm coming!" She begins to run down the corridor, looking into rooms as she passes. The crying gets louder. "Hold on, baby brother, I'll be there soon. I'll protect you!"
She finds the right room and bursts through the door. Instead of a baby, there's a man, carrying guns and other assorted weapons. "Do I look like I need protection, sister? From the likes of you?" There's a sneer on his face. "Last I checked, you were the one needing rescuing, trapped in your little gilded cage."
"Nathan, I just wanted - "
"Wanted to what? Rachel? Protect me? Save me? The world doesn't need you to protect me - you tried that once." He motions behind Rachel. In the shadows of the room, there's another male figure, menacing. "You tried to save me, Mother Askani. And in saving me, you created HIM." The figure emerges, and he's identical to her brother.
"Stryfe?" She whispers.
"Yes, Mother?" The sneer is the same, but carried with an air of malevolence. Faster than lightening, he grabs her by the throat and starts to drag her away. She struggles and fails. Nathan just watches.
"I really should thank you for my life, Rachel. Without you, my masterpiece would have never come to fruition."
He drags her through a set of double-doors into a mausoleum, where statues of the dead stand silently. "Look at my work, OUR work. You knew all this, and still you gave the order to create me. This is OUR legacy, Rachel. Enjoy it."
He tosses her in and one of the statues begins to move. A young girl steps forward. "You killed me."
"Illyana, I'm sorry. I didn't - I couldn't..."
"Of course not." She leans over. "It's never your fault, is it, Rachel? Ahab made you a hound, that wasn't you. What happened to Brian? It was a total accident. And me...?" The girl's hand is behind her back, and you can begin to make out the outline of a sword. "You had to protect your brother, how could you know - really know - what HE would become."
Behind Rachel, another statue begins to move, sneaking up behind Rachel, but she's still focused on the girl. "Illyana." It's said in a whisper.
"That's OK, Rachel." The figure behind grabs Rachel, pinning her arms behind her, preventing her from moving.
"Jamie!?"
The young girl advances. "We forgive you." With that, the figure behind Rachel disappears and the little girl thrusts the sword through Rachel's abdomen, running it all the way through her body. The rest of the statues begin to clap as Rachel sinks to the floor.
[ooc: LJ-cut for the massive TL;DR. Long/short, Rachel feels rejected by her parents, like she failed her brother, and oh - more than a little responsible for the Legacy Virus. You can interact with any aspect of the dream and have your character choose any one or all segments to see. There may be something for everyone! On some level she will be aware she's dreaming, but that may come and go if you choose to interact. If you're just observing and don't want interaction, please make that obvious in your tag.]
